Villarica

Finding ourselves with little to do for a few days and not being able to get to the river under our own power, Todd and I found quite a bit of entertainment in climbing the local tourist attraction, Volcan Villarica. Rising 2847 meters, 9340 feet for those still using English units, the volcano dominates Pucon's southern skyline and serves as the backdrop for many activities in and around Pucon. We woke up early and made our way to the mountain with snowboards in tow. In terms of the Chilean schedule, we actually started this adventure late at night during prime party hours. We watched the sun rise over the mountain and saw many other volcanos in the area illuminated by the morning light.

Our trusty guide checkin the view from the top.

The sometimes fiery crater.
